The transformation of Government forms into online, dynamic, self-validating, intelligent e-forms. A very large assignment for DSS, where I was the front-end developer in the 'proof of concept team' for the landmark project placing the Child Support Agency claim forms online. Based on the Child Support claim form, we extracted all relevant information and created fully automated, 'intelligent', interactive, database backed, self-validating 'e-forms' - accessible in multiple languages (i.e. Welsh) via workstation, digital TV, WAP phone and PDA. Unlike the 27 page paper version, the e-form was developed to be available over the internet and be personalised. It only displayed the relevant sections, auto-completed known details, double-checked entered information, came in a variety of languages and had context sensitive help tips and documentation. You could begin a session via your WAP phone or PDA, continue on a desktop computer during your lunch, print it out partially completed and finish it by hand on the tube or via interactive digital TV at home.

The project called for the integration of five different subgroups to form the Rullion recruitment group website. The project (where I acted as the lead front-end developer) called for us to implement the technical aspects whilst incorporating an external designer's work. These graphics were presented as flat files which we sectioned, optimised for the web and placed into our templates. Content was entered, stored in the form of xml and dynamically transformed to best suit the user requirements (i.e. browser and file format). The project called for an easily maintained website and so user-friendly templates, support documentation, content management tools and 'foolproof' electronic forms, allowed even the most hesitant to create their own web documents for others to read, edit, or approve depending on their permission status. Site visitors may search the job database, attach or point to a web address to upload their CVs, and are dynamically informed of breaking news. The ability to resolve multiple POV and to creatively problem-solve was essential to the role.

The client, an IT Consultancy, needed an online presence which conveyed their corporate image, services, and essential information in an attracive package for visitors to their site. Working with them from the basics up, we designed and developed their website to be user friendly and easily maintained through the use of templates. They were left empowered with the ability to change their content and style as required without having to depend on external developers with specialist skills.

The ABP is a community of business and psychology professionals, an integration designed to bring the best from research and applied psychology to the business world. To enable this the ABP required a website that allowed their members to act in unison unhindered by common space-time constraints. Users can register for membership, learn, access professional consultants, adverstise business opportunities, create their own skill set profiles, access additional support in the form of professional expertise and online resources, submit proposals/articles/white papers, and indulge in multi-directional communication from anywhere in the world.
